In the Beginning

The colorful history of Festival city began in 1978 when Don Totino brought a company known as Sarti Liqueurs, the Parade Norwood – the premises which soon became too small – so they shifted operations to number 95, Ledger Road, Beverley. Within a short while these premises were also outgrown, so they purchased a property at Woodville West.

Since taking over the business. Don diversified and brought in some very good quality Italian wines and liqueurs, while still maintaining production of their own Vodka, Sambuca, Ouzo, liqueurs and his favorite Marsala.

By 1986  Don decided that the business was becoming too big to handle alone, so he sold 50% of the business to the Rugari and Condo families and the business name was changed to Festival City Wines & Spirits.

In 1989, it was decided that the Woodville West premises was becoming a bit cramped, and as a result the large premises situated on Port Road was purchased.

In more recent years Festival has taken over the old Sam Savas Banquet food wholesalers and has established an enormous showroom known as “chefs paradise” at 992 Port Road Albert Park (adjacent to Festival’s offices and warehouse).

The latest development in the life of Festival is the purchase of Vine Valley Vinegar, with the manufacturing plant situated on premise.

In March 2008 Festival City Wines & Spirits purchased Gollars Wines & Spirits in Deer Park, Melbourne. There are many similarities between the two companies. Both are privately owned, have been owned by the current owners for 30 years and run by families that have dedicated themselves to providing customers with great products and service for many years.

For restaurant owners it is a true one-stop shop.

Festival City Wines and Spirits Pty Ltd currently employs 90 staff.

Festival City’s caters for supermarkets, restaurants, wine shops, delicatessens, hotels, motels, reception centres etc.

The premises also allows the public to indulge in the purchasing of our products.
